8 recipes

8 Recipes is an artist book and poetic archive that explores the emotional landscape of longing, heartbreak, and unrequited love through the familiar language of a cookbook. Composed of personal writings, collected reflections, and imagined instructions for survival, the work presents eight metaphorical “recipes” developed through lived experiences of grief, yearning, devotion, and loss. Moving between sincerity and dark humor, the book transforms the rituals of cooking into gestures of emotional care, offering guidance for navigating the tender and often disorienting terrain of the lovelorn.

Existing somewhere between memoir, self-help manual, and devotional object, 8 Recipes embraces both the sweetness and bitterness of desire. While the work gently encourages self-compassion during periods of lament and longing, it does not seek to resolve or diminish heartache. Instead, it lingers within the ache itself, honoring pining, uncertainty, and emotional vulnerability as meaningful human experiences. Through text, image, and metaphor, the book becomes a quiet companion for those learning how to carry loss, transforming personal heartbreak into a shared language of tenderness and resilience.
